Marjorie J. (Ivey) Thompson, 72, a resident of Newton passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 16, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Marjorie was the beloved wife of George Thompson with whom she enjoyed 50 years of marriage.
She was born in Nova Scotia, Canada on August 26, 1950 and was the daughter of the late Ralph Ivey and Adelaide (Carey) MacAdam.
Marjorie was 9 years old when she and her family moved to the US. They settled in Somerville, MA, where Marjorie attended school and graduated from Somerville High School. Marjorie was a longtime communicate of St. Catherine of Genoa Parish in Somerville. This is the parish where she married her love, George. She worked at Boston College for several years as a secretary and receptionist. Marjorie enjoyed gardening, she had a great appreciation of the outdoors, flowers and humming birds. She will be remembered by her family as a wonderful mother and wife. Marjorie was loving and caring. She will be dearly missed.
Besides her husband, Marjorie is survived by her children, Jason M. Thompson of Lowell, MA, Ryan J. Thompson of Palmetto, FL., and Caroline T. Thompson of Billerica, MA, her granddaughter Jacinta Ann Marie Worthen, her brother Arthur Ivey and his wife Jamentia Ivey of Thailand.
Marjorie was sadly predeceased by her youngest son Kevin Thompson and her sisters Ann Marie McGlinchey and Alice D. McLain.
Funeral Service and Interment will be held privately.
