Marjorie E. (LaMothe) Smart, 94, a resident of Amesbury, MA, and formerly of Haverhill, MA passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026.

She was the beloved wife of the late John F. “Jack” Smart, Jr. Born in Haverhill, MA, she was the daughter of Wilfred and Rose (Jones) LaMothe.

Marjorie was a graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1951 and Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, MA. Marjorie worked as an LPN for Oxford Manor and the Hale Hospital in Haverhill, MA, until her retirement.

Marjorie was a longtime parishioner of All Saints Parish, a dedicated member of the Ladies of St. Anne, and a former member of The Greater Haverhill Arts and Crafts Society. She was an avid collector of miniatures; Marjorie was featured in Miniature Gazette, a publication of National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts. She was a maker of dollhouses and room boxes. Marjorie enjoyed painting and cross-stitching as well as dining out.

Marjorie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by her loving son, Paul G. Smart and his wife, Tammy of Myrtle Beach S.C., her loving daughter, Gloria M. (Smart) Cormick of Georgia, her grandchildren, Matthew A. Smart and his wife, Amanda, John-Michael Smart and his wife, Kara Renee, Clinton W Cormick, Jr. and his wife, Meghan, Kerry Fisher, as well as twelve great grandchildren.

Marjorie was predeceased by her brother, Richard LaMothe, her sister, Gloria Pearsall and her grandson, Joshua Michael Smart.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 9am to 10am at the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home 116 Main St. Plaistow, NH. A funeral mass will follow at 10:30am at All Saints Parish in Haverhill, MA. Internment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Haverhill, MA.
