Plaistow, NH: Marie C. (Kavanaugh) Blair, 88, a former longtime resident of Plaistow, and recently of Brentwood, died July 22, 2017 at Elliott Hospital in Manchester.
Born in Buffalo, NY, daughter of the late Wallace and Alma (Thibault) Kavanaugh, she moved with her family to Malden, MA, at the age of eight where she attended local schools. She was a member of the Malden High School Class of 1947 and was employed as a secretary at the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company of Boston in her younger years.
A resident of the Southern New Hampshire area for the past fifty years, she lived in Hampstead for ten years before moving back to Plaistow in 2007. She was a former member of Holy Angels Parish of Plaistow and Saint Anne's Parish of Hampstead. In her later years Mrs. Blair worked for the Town of Raymond Fuel Assistance Program through the State of New Hampshire.
Devoted to her family, Mrs. Blair was an avid reader and enjoyed watching classic movies, especially Shirley Temple movies. She enjoyed the music of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Judy Garland and was a member of a group of singers that entertained at local nursing facilities.
The wife of the late Robert A. Blair, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert A. Blair, Jr and Brenda Blair of Sandown, two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen A. and Paul Dumais of Chester, and Donna M. and Ray Marquis of Plaistow, four grandchildren, Jason Dumais, Kelly (Dumais) Sramowicz, Matthew Marquis and Kalynn Blair, two great grandchildren, "JP" and Miles, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Gilbert Kavanaugh and John Kavanaugh.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 10a.m. until 12 noon at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St, Plaistow. Her funeral service will begin at 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home with burial services following in Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow.
