Derry: Marie L. (Levesque) Barry, 90, a longtime resident of Hampstead NH and Methuen MA passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2023, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Mary "Marie" (Ouellette) Levesque, Marie was born in Lawrence MA on August 15th, 1933, the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was educated in the Lawrence schools and was a member of the Lawence High School Class of 1951. Marie was a proud member of the Children of Mary throughout her youth. She was employed in a local box factory where she met her husband of sixty-three years, John J. Barry, who predeceased her in 2019. John and Marie were married at St. Theresa's Church in Methuen MA on September 8, 1956, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Marie transitioned to a stay-at-home mom to lovingly raise three boys and later returned to the workforce in the retail and administrative sectors. She was a long-time member of St. Theresa's Church in Methuen and later of St. Anne Parish in Hampstead, NH. She remained devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary throughout her life.
Marie enjoyed reading, listening to and watching western serials, working outside in her gardens, as well as various crafts, particularly crocheting.
Marie will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three sons and two daughters-in-law; Michael J. Barry of Hampstead, NH, Thomas J. and Marjorie Barry of Merrimac, MA, and Daniel M. and Shannon Barry of Thompson, CT, a grandson Alex G. Barry of Merrimac, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twelve siblings, (infant) Dorothy Levesque, Arthur Levesque, Jeannette Olivier, Aurora Vaudrieuil, Emile Levesque, Gerard Levesque, Edmond Levesque, Irene Piliponis, Pauline Levesque, Cecile Turcotte, Raymond Levesque, and Blanche Grassello.
A private family funeral service will be held in the chapel at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home of Plaistow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff and caregivers at Parkland Medical Center in Derry and Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH. In particular, they also express their sincere gratitude for the care and compassion provided by the nurses, aides, and staff of High Pointe House in Haverhill who cared for Marie in her final days.
