Obituary

Margarita del Pilar Diaz Fernandez Woodworth, born March 30, 1939 in la Havana, Cuba, passed away peacefully in the presence of her son, daughter and daughter-in-law March 9, 2018, just 21 days shy of her 79 th birthday in her home in Winter Park.  She touched the lives of many and made a lifetime of memories with those who knew her.  After high school, she attended secretarial school and worked in the perfume department at the Ultra Department Store in La Havana, Cuba.

She was swept off her feet by her first and only love, Herbert "Woody" Woodworth, whom she married December 27, 1958 in Havana, Cuba.   They shared in a love affair and marriage that stood the test of time for over 59 years.  They traveled around the world and lived in places both far and near, many times in places where she would have to fend for herself as Woody was out in the "field" working for months at a time.  They lived in Bogotá, Columbia where she learned to cook and iron and she ironed everything including underclothes, handkerchiefs and sheets; British Guiana where she learned that a language barrier didn't prevent her from communicating with anyone; Winter Park, Florida where they purchased their forever home; Warrensburg, Missouri where she learned about cold weather, gained her US citizenship and had her first born child, Warren; Port of Sudan where she learned she could survive under most any circumstance; Khartoum, Sudan where she gave birth to Cynthia, with the help of nuns as the doctor was not available until three days later because of Ramadan; Tehran, Iran where she frequently had police visits because neighbors thought she was running a day care with all kids that were at her house playing or the social events that were epic; Kwajalein, Marshall Islands where she worked the Lady's Department of the Macy's Department Store.  Sales increased in the store as the number of patrons shopping there increased at the opportunity to visit with the new, personable fashionista; East Kingston, New Hampshire where the Woodworth Farm became their "summer house" and will be the site of her final resting place with a fireplace etched on her headstone, to keep her warm in the winter.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years Herbert Vance "Woody" Woodworth, her loving children, son Warren Woodworth, daughter Cynthia Woodworth, daughter-in-law Glenda, grandchildren Rachel Woodworth, Ryan Woodworth and step grandchildren Megan, and her husband Gared Mills, Clayton Egan-wyer, Collin Egan-wyer, and his wife Anita, and great grandchildren Zoey, Skylar, Grayson and Kelsey Mills and her brother Juan Enrique Diaz Fernandez and his wife Miriam.

She was preceded in death by her parents Tomas Enrique Diaz Olmeda and Angela Pilar Fernandez Soler.
