IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret M.
(Noe) Sullivan
June 24, 1930 – June 12, 2017
Haverhill: Margaret M. (Noe) Sullivan, 86, a resident of Haverhill for the past twenty-five years, died June 12, 2017 at Haverhill Crossings assisted living community, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston and raised there in the West End, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Sebastiana, "Anna", (Guardino) Noe and the late Carmello Noe. She attended schools in Boston and later Malden, where her family moved when she was a child. A graduate of Boston Teachers College, she received her BA in Education and first worked as an elementary school teacher in the Baltimore, MD School system.
Mrs. Sullivan was a resident of Wakefield, MA for over thirty years. Throughout, she was an active and supportive member of St. Joseph's Parish, and was a longtime substitute teacher at St Joseph's Grammar School, which all of her children attended. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, William R. Sullivan, Sr., as well as a devoted mother and homemaker for her active family of five children. She enjoyed her membership in the Wakefield Garden Club and the Bear Hill Golf Club, where she learned to play golf and tennis with her husband and countless friends.
Mrs. Sullivan moved to Haverhill in 1992 and continued in her teaching career at St. Joseph's School there. She was a voracious reader and until recently volunteered in the Friends Shop at the Haverhill Library as a member of the Friends of the Library.
Family was the most important part of Margaret's life. She was held in high regard by all as an accomplished cook and baker, and was especially known for her Sicilian-style pizza, apple pies, chocolate cakes and Italian "Nana Cookies" as well as for the family dinners that she planned and served to her ever-growing family and their friends. She especially looked forward to being part of her family's many weddings, where she enjoyed dancing and celebrating milestones. She bestowed beautiful afghans on each grandchild as he or she left for college and on new babies born into the Sullivan clan and close friends' families. She was a fan of all Boston Sports teams, especially the Boston Red Sox, as well as of the University of Notre Dame, where several of her children and grandchildren matriculated. She also avidly looked forward to gathering with family and friends to watch New England Patriots' Sunday games. A wintertime resident of Marco Island, FL for over twenty years, she also enjoyed her many pet English Springer Spaniels.
Predeceased by her husband Attorney William R. Sullivan, Sr. in 2012, Margaret will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her 5 children, including Attorney William R. Sullivan, Jr. and his wife Attorney Catherine Patrick of Haverhill, Attorney Denis J. Sullivan and his wife Joan of Melrose, and Attorney Richard C. Sullivan and his wife Jean of Indianapolis, IN, Marianne Sullivan Wallach and her husband Andrew S. Wallach III of Mequon, WI, and Dr. Meg Sullivan, and her husband Dr. Mark Furman, of Sudbury. In addition, by her treasured sister-in-law Bruna Noe of Stoneham, twenty grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, her special cousin Mary Gucciardi of Medford, and several devoted nieces, nephews and cousins, especially from the Nolan and Davis families. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Nicholas Noe and sisters Josephine Arena and Carmela Corrao.
