Haverhill: M. Teresa (Vallieres) Welch, 103, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2020 at Ivy Hill Court, just twenty days shy of her 104 th birthday.
She was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Ernestine (Fontaine) Vallieres and attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and Haverhill High School. She graduated in 1936 as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the Holy Ghost Hospital School of Nursing in Cambridge.
Primarily a housewife and homemaker, she worked at various times at the former Gale Hospital in Haverhill, Eastern Canvas, and in the cafeteria at the former Saint Joseph School.
A lifelong member of All Saints Parish and the former Saint Joseph Parish, she was a member of the Altar Society and volunteered as a sacristan, and served as a Special Minister of Communion. She also was a member of the Third Order of Mary, The Ladies of Saint Anne Society, and the Children of Mary Society.
Mrs. Welch was predeceased by her husband, Richard P. Welch, her son Richard P. Welch, Jr and her daughter Jeanine B. Welch, and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three daughters, Marjorie L. Talarico, of Plaistow, Suzanne E. MacKenzie, of Haverhill, and Jacqueline M. Sovas, of Naples, Maine, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by sisters, Gloria DeRoche and Helen Staples and brothers, Paul Vallieres, Lucien Vallieres, Ernest Vallieres.
Following the Commonwealth of Massachusetts guidelines for social distancing and the wearing of masks, a Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11am at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave, Haverhill MA. A reception will be held immediately following the Mass. A private burial service was held at the time of her death. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to All Saints Parish, 120 Bellevue Avenue Haverhill, MA.
