Plaistow, NH: Lyudmila K. Romanov (maiden name Ostrovskaia), 82, of Plaistow, NH, died on December 15, 2020 at her home.
Born in the Village of Soshneve, located in the County of Ustuzhna in the Vologda region of Russia in 1938, she was the daughter of the
late Karl N. Ostrovsky and Maria A. Ostrovskaia. She was an only child in her family. After high school graduation in 1958, she attended The
Herzen State Pedagogical Institute, located in Leningrad, U.S.S.R (now St. Petersburg, Russia) and got a master's degree in arts. She met her husband, Andrey, while in high school and their relationship grew and they married nine years later after graduation.
In her early years, Lyudmila worked in many fields before she became an Art Teacher at a children's art studio. Her students participated in several art shows in Russia (Leningrad and Moscow), Paris (France), Deli (India) and Boston, MA, where she got some awards. In 1991 she, along with her family, emigrated to the USA and was a housewife and artistic handywoman.
Lyudmila and her husband moved to Plaistow NH in 1993, where she lived until now. At the same time, she started her own art work including painting, tapestry and decorative dolls. She participated in multiple art exhibitions in Boston, Haverhill and Newburyport.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of fifty-three years, Andrey V. Romanov; two sons and daughter-in-law; Alexey Romanov of Nashua, NH and Dmitriy and Lilija Romanova of Portland, ME; and grandson, Alexander Romanov of Wells, ME.
Relatives and friends may attend Lyudmila's Life Celebration on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, from 10 AM – 12 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH, following State of NH guidelines for wearing masks and social distancing. A Graveside Service will follow at 12:30 PM at St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill.
