Obituary

Lynne G. (Katen) Simone, 71, beloved mother, grandmother, and wife of Joseph A. Simone, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on October 8, 2024.  Born in Methuen, MA, Lynne was a proud graduate of Methuen High School, class of 1972, and spent her life dedicated to her family and community.

As a devoted homemaker, Lynne created a warm and loving environment for her family, always finding ways to bring joy and laughter into their lives. She was known as the life of the party, with a spirit that was infectious. Lynne's playful nature shone brightly during the holidays, where she would orchestrate memorable nerf gun battles with her children and grandchildren on Christmas Day. Her creativity and competitive spirit were on full display each September as she vowed to win the Halloween decorating contest at their campground—an endeavor she often achieved.

Lynne was active in the community where she served two terms on the Sanborn Regional School Board, volunteered as den mother for the Cub Scouts pack 91, and was treasurer at the Grace Episcopal Church in Haverhill. Lynne enjoyed gardening, sewing, and camping.

Lynne was never one to hold back her thoughts, always speaking her mind with honesty and humor. Yet, beneath her playful exterior was a heart that overflowed with love and compassion. Her kindness touched the lives of everyone she met, and her laughter will echo in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Lynne is survived by her sons Michael A. Simone and his wife Sabrina of Danville, NH, and Daniel K. Simone and his wife Caitlin of Sandown, NH; her grandchildren Gabriella, Michael, Kayden and Rylee; her siblings Paul Katen of Otis, OR, Barbara Bagshaw of Port St. John, FL, and Charlotte Tardugno of Andover, MA; her nieces and nephews Elizabeth Tardugno, Charles Tardugno, Jeff Szuba, and Scott Szuba.

A celebration of her life will be held at a date to be announced, where friends and family will gather to share stories, laughter, and memories in true Lynne fashion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the MSPCA in honor of Lynne's generous spirit and love of animals. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
