IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lucien H.
"Lou" Lapierre
March 15, 1927 – April 15, 2018
Lucien H Lapierre, 91 of Bradford, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on April 15, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Violet (Roy) Lapierre.
Lou was born in Bradford on March 15, 1927, the youngest child of Adelard and Valerie (Brochu) Lapierre. Like so many of his generation, Lou was shaped by growing up during the great depression, learning the lessons of duty and sacrifice for family and country. He finished his studies and graduated early from Haverhill High School to enlist in the US Navy in 1945. After his honorable discharge, he graduated from Boston University and went to work at Western Electric Company. Lou started as a production worker and quickly rose to supervisor. He spent 35 years at Western, retiring in 1984. He and Vi enjoyed travelling, whether to Hawaii, Quebec, the Caribbean or their many winters in Florida. Lou was a terrific pianist. As a young man he augmented his salary playing locally in dance bands. Many Christmases were spent with extended family gathered around his piano while he led us in caroling. He was a voracious reader, enjoyed visits from his nieces and nephews, following the Red Sox and Patriots, and simply hanging out and playing cards with his beloved Vi.
Family was everything to Lou. He constantly involved his sisters in his life, lovingly tending to them as they aged. He saw to it that all his children had a good start in life, making sure they were all able to pursue higher education. He was immensely proud of the family he and Vi built, from his children to his grandchildren to his great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Lou is survived by his children, son Michael and his wife Janis of Bradford, son James and his fiancé MarneeAnn Betke of Hampstead, NH, and daughter Susan LaPierre and her partner Gary Guidi of Newton, MA; grandchildren Marc and Anjali LaPierre, Alexander and John LaPierre, Matthew and Benjamin Westcott, great-grandchildren Madison and Jordan LaPierre and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his daughter, Katherine LaPierre, who passed away in 2016.
