Methuen: Lorraine (Gagnon) (Imonti) DuFresne, 97, a longtime resident of Methuen, died Tuesday evening, December 22, 2020 with family by her side.
Born and raised in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Napoleon and Orea (St.Onge) Gagnon, attending Holy Name Grammar School and graduating from Commerce High School with the Class of 1942.
Mrs. Imonti-DuFresne worked as a book keeper at the Arlington Mill in Lawrence, and was later employed at the Internal Revenue Service in Andover until her retirement. Following her retirement, she was a twenty year volunteer at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. She was a longtime member of Saint Lucy's Parish of Methuen, the Ladies' Sodality of the parish and the Haverhill Garden Club. She enjoyed knitting, Brazilian sewing and socializing at the Methuen Senior Center.
She was predeceased in 2003 by her first husband of fifty-three years, Louis Imonti and then in 2012, by her second husband of six years, Dolphice W. DuFresne. Mrs. Imonti-DuFresne will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, including; Roger and Marcelle Imonti of Haverhill, Pauline and Gunther Fromberg of Pt. Sienna, FL, Robert Sandner of Haverhill, Joanne and John Silva of North Providence, RI, Joe and Carol Renucci of Providence, RI, Brigette Imonti of Kingston, NH, Eva Rogers of Atkinson, NH and Frances Bond of Zephyrhills, FL, Janice Imonti of Brighton, MA, Margaret and Bill Linnehan of TN and Judy and Leon Laporte of TX, and her brother-in-law, Donald Clough of North Andover, MA. She was also pre-deceased by her younger sister, Pauline Clough.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home of Haverhill, with a private Mass of Christian Burial to be held in Saint Lucy's Church in Methuen and followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the MSPCA or to St. Lucy's Parish of Methuen.
