Obituary

Kittery, Maine: Lori A. (DeRoche) Woodsum, 66 of Kittery and formerly of Haverhill, MA, died April 12, 2020, at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill.

Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Lorraine (Demarais) DeRoche. She attended Saint Joseph Grammar School, was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1972 and also attended Northern Essex Community College.

Lori was employed for thirty years by the City of Haverhill as the Office Manager for the Office of Economic Development and Planning until her retirement in 2017. She was a member of Teamsters' Union Local 170.

A former member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the former Saint Joseph Parish, she had a love of arts and crafts stretching back to her grammar schools days. She thoroughly enjoyed drawing, coloring and making jewelry.  A resident of Kittery since 1998, Lori enjoyed walking along the beaches of Maine, skiing and roller skating all of her life.  An accomplished gardener, she also took pride in maintaining the gravesite of her deceased parents at Saint Joseph Cemetery.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a son Greg A. Woodsum and his wife Linda of Weare, NH, a daughter, Rachel A. Wilcox and her husband Ryan of Merrimac, MA, a brother, Daniel A. DeRoche and his wife Cynthia of Ward Hill, MA, four sisters, Kathleen Desmarais and her husband George of Dalton, MA, Patricia Paquette and her husband Edward of Bradford, MA, Theresa Desilets and her husband Michael of Keene, NH and Michele Snyder and her husband Raymond of Georgetown, MA, grandchildren, Chelsea Woodsum and Aiden Wilcox, her longtime companion Kenneth J. Socia of Kittery, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Lori was predeceased by her brothers and a sister-in-law Gregory R. DeRoche and Theodore R. DeRoche and his wife Kathleen "Kacie" Crowe.


Due to the current health emergency, funeral services for Lori will be held at a later date and under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Framingham, MA, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA.
