Obituary

Sandown, NH: Lloyd Allen Lessard, 104, a resident of the Town of Sandown since 1952, died suddenly and peacefully in his chair at home on December 30, 2025. Born and raised in Danville, he was the son of the late Dana and Isa May (Collins) Lessard and graduated from the former Sanborn Seminary with the Class of !939. During his lifetime, Lloyd worked on a poultry farm, and as a carpenter. For most of his working career he was employed at New England Armature in South Danville and was especially gifted at building and repairing clocks as well as anything else mechanical that needed to be repaired.

A longtime member of the Gideon Lodge of Masons, he was also a member of both the Sandown and Danville Granges. Totally involved in his community, Lloyd served for thirty-eight years as the Supervisor of the Checklist. He also served the town as a volunteer fireman for fifty years, deputy fire warden, Planning Board member as well as member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment, health officer, and treasurer of the Trustees of the Trust Fund.

When his children were growing up in town, Lloyd volunteered his time working with scouting programs and served eighteen years as troop chairman and eleven years as scoutmaster. At the time of his death, Lloyd was the holder of the Boston Post Cane for ten years as the oldest living resident of the Town of Sandown. In 1985 Lloyd and his late wife, Virginia, were honored as Sandown Citizens of the Year.

An avid gardener, Lloyd maintained several vegetable gardens to help feed his large family over the years as well as donating his crop to local families and community groups and enjoyed repairing antique clocks.

Predeceased in 1995 by his beloved wife Virginia (Follansbee) Lessard, his son Thomas Lessard in 2021, and his grandson, Brian Lessard, this past year,   he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Joan Lessard of Kingston, NH, and Lawrence and Paula Lessard of Sandown, two daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Michael Hoitt of Penacook, NH, and Beth and Douglas Brogan of Concord, NH, a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Lessard of West Haven CT, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Arthur and Oliver, and sisters, Flora, Marian, Rebecca, Pauline and Ruth.
