Plaistow: Linda J. (Pelton) Matthews, 80, a resident of Plaistow since 1977, died Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Exeter Hospital, following a period of declining health.

Born in Boston, MA, daughter of the late Francis and Grace (Durgin) Pelton, she was raised and educated in Somerville, graduating from Somerville High School. After raising her children, Linda worked as a cook for fifteen years at the Timberlane Regional Middle School in Plaistow.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Linda enjoyed cooking, gardening, decorating for the holidays and keeping a warm, inviting and loving home for her family. She enjoyed many trips across the United States and Europe with her late husband, Paul, and was his number one fan supporting him throughout his stock car racing career.

She was predeceased in 2015 by her husband of fifty seven years, Paul F. Matthews, and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Dan Bezanson of Plaistow, a son, Paul M. Matthews of Plaistow and his longtime love, Connie Parent, a son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Kelly Matthews of Plaistow, a brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Diane Pelton of Surprise, AZ, a sister-in-law, Shirley Pelton of Massachusetts, four grandchildren, Brett, Casey, Shannon and Erin Matthews, and her faithful dog "Frosty". She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Pelton.

Relatives and friends are invited to Linda's Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, August 5, 2021, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home followed by burial in Maplewood Cemetery, Plaistow.
