Leon Michael "Buzz" Buzzell, 91, of Danville, NH and husband of Angela Marie (DeOrio) Buzzell, passed away on June 10, 2023 at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, NH after a short but challenging bout with dementia and Alzheimer's.

Born on May 3, 1932, in Haverhill, MA he was the son of the late Ralph and Victoria (Kaskiewicz) Buzzell. He attended and graduated from Haverhill High School before going into the Navy in 1951 where he served on the USS Isherwood (DD-520), a Fletcher-class destroyer. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal European Class. Leon had an ongoing and early passion for boats and auto mechanics. He worked pretty much on anything that was mechanical whether it had an engine in it or not, and he was really good at it! Cars, boats, trucks, camping trailers, RVs, snow mobiles, firetrucks, etc. He also dabbled in the making of stained-glass ornaments for family and friends.

In 1968 Leon became a full-time member of the Salem New Hampshire Fire Department as a Firefighter, EMT, mechanic, with the occasional opportunity to play the role of Santa Clause at the department Christmas gatherings before retiring in 1988. Leon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, son and friend. He is loved and will be greatly missed.

Surviving him, in addition to his wife, are his children, Michael Buzzell and his wife Antoinette of Red Hook, NY, Deborah Stevens and her husband William of Methuen, MA, John Buzzell and his wife Dawn of Piney Flats, TN, his grandchildren Nicholas Buzzell and his wife Eirene, Melissa Stevens and fiancé Michael Pelletier, Kimberly Stevens, Amber Buzzell, Chelsea Buzzell and his great-grandchildren Antonia Buzzell and Elli Buzzell.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:00 p.m., at the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will follow at the funeral home. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Leon's memory to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org.
