Lauren Emily Mathis was granted her angel wings on November 21, 2017, following a lifelong illness. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Lauren had touched in many ways throughout her short, yet very memorable life. Lauren's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her, understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around her, and her loving personality shown every day of her life. Although Lauren's illness might make her appear frail, she possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With her courage she led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories.

Lauren was a graduate of Pinkerton High School in Derry, NH., Class of 2011, and gave of her time volunteering at Ma Petite Maison Playcare Center in Hampstead NH., where she was loved by many.

Lauren could spend hours reading books, performing her Yoga, swimming, and beat her father, Dan, every time at Word Search, earning her the beloved title "Queen of the Word Search"! She enjoyed museums, nature centers, and mini-golfing at the Mall of New Hampshire. A lover of arts & crafts, Lauren spent hours with her mother, Carol, perusing libraries, museums, stores for craft supplies, and creating beautiful works of art together.

With Lauren's passing, we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss her everyday, especially her winning smile. She will forever remain in our hearts. Through her teachings about life, we were able to create wonderful memories, and Dan and Carol consider it a privilege to be her parents.

Lauren will be sadly missed, and lovingly remembered by her parents Daniel and Carol (Custeau) Mathis of E. Hampstead, NH., Aunt Claire (Custeau) Gill, and her husband Uncle Jeff, Uncle Thomas Mathis Sr. and his wife Mari, Aunt Lynn (Mathis) Sorel, and Uncle Wallace Mathis.  She leaves her "Cousins-closer-than-siblings"; Alison (Keiran) Sneirson, and her wife Jessica, and Joshua Keiran. Cousins Amanda, Amy, Thomas Jr., and Elizabeth, as well as many second cousins, who all loved her very much.

Lauren's family and friends are invited to her Funeral Service on Saturday, November 25th, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Pilgrim United Church of Christ , 197 Middle Rd, Brentwood, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Lauren's name to Pilgrim United Church.
