Obituary

Plaistow, NH : Kenneth E. Veroneau, 87, a native and lifelong resident of Plaistow, died peacefully, Thursday evening, November 29, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loving and devoted family.

Born on August 20, 1931, son of the late Alton and Florence (Lloyd) Veroneau and step-son of the late Irene (Morin) Veroneau, he attended the Pollard School and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1950.

A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, Mr. Veroneau served as an Aviation Structural Mechanic, serving aboard the USS Hornet and with the Composite Squadron Nine US NAAS, Sanford Florida. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, The Navy Occupation Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Mr. Veroneau attended Fitchburg State College and received his teaching certification. He was employed at the former Western Electric Co. for eighteen years and as a Metal Fabrication Instructor at Shawsheen Valley Vocational and Technical High School, Billerica for twenty years until his retirement.

He was a member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill, The Massachusetts Teachers Association, The Massachusetts Vocational Teachers Association, and the National Post 11-254 of the VFW. Mr. Veroneau was a proud veteran and considered himself privileged to have taken part recently in the Honor Flight Program to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC.

Always interested in aviation, Mr. Veroneau held his Solo-Pilot's Licensed, and built and flew radio controlled model airplanes. He also enjoyed traveling, cruises, and dining out. A man who appreciated a "good manhattan" he most enjoyed spending "Happy Hour" every Thursday at home with his wife and sons.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-two years, Joan (Lagasse) Veroneau, his sons and daughters-in-law, Edward A. and Jillanne Veroneau of Salem, NH, Peter A. Veroneau of Plaistow and Mitchell B. and Judith Veroneau of Kingston, four grandchildren, Alton, Ellen, Faith and Rebekah, two special cousins, Janet Corliss and Shirley Gaudet, and several nieces and nephews and extended family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Veroneau's calling hours and Life Celebration to be held on Monday, December 3, 2018, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday December 4th beginning at 8:45 and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, Haverhill, MA. Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow, NH. The family suggests that friends who wish, make memorial donations to Honor Flight New England, 1193 Hooksett Road, #2, Hooksett, NH.
