Haverhill: Kathleen A. (Butler) Rowe, 77, a native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, died April 30, 2025, at High Pointe Hospice House, Haverhill, surrounded by her loving and supportive family.
Kathleen was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Powers) Butler and attended local schools, graduating from Saint James High School with the Class of 1965. She went on to receive her bachelor's degree from Bridgewater State Teachers College in 1969 and later earned her master's degree in education from Fitchburg State College.
Kathleen devoted thirty-eight years to the Haverhill School System as a beloved and well-respected fifth grade teacher at the Hunking School and Bradford Elementary. After retiring she continued to serve the community as a substitute teacher. She was a member of the Haverhill Teachers Association, and the Massachusetts Teachers Association.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Kathleen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, especially as a supportive grandmother at their sporting events. She also enjoyed shopping, cooking and creating a warm and loving home for her family. Traveling with her late husband Charlie and family, Kathleen visited Europe, Ireland, Alaska, and much more. She loved spending time with her family and friends at the beach and the White Mountains.
Predeceased in 2014 by her loving and devoted husband, Charles "Charlie" Rowe, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristin B. and James Grenier and Melissa A. and John Burns, of Haverhill; her stepson, Scott E. Thibodeau and his wife Cheryl of LaPlata, MD, two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Jane Butler of Haverhill, and Kevin and Joanne Butler of Salem, NH; six grandchildren, Emma Grenier, Cailin Grenier, Colin Burns, Logan Burns, Shannon Thibodeau and Caitlin Thibodeau, her great granddaughter Cora and several nieces.
Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours to be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 6, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
