Karen M.
Brown
February 6, 1943 – March 23, 2023
Palm Harbor, Florida: Karen M. (Sturk) Brown, 80, of Palm Harbor and a former longtime resident of Haverhill, Massachusetts, died March 23, 2023, at her home.
Born in Bath, Maine, daughter of the late Elmer Sturk and the late Loyola (Lambert) (Sturk) Blinn, she was raised and educated in Haverhill, graduating from Haverhill High School. She married the love of her life, Robert Brown, and together they raised their children in their home on Webster Street in Haverhill. Karen was employed as an equipment technician at Compugraphics and AGFA.
In the early 1980's, Karen and Bob built a log cabin on Thompson Lake in Poland, Maine and spent many wonderful summers there with their children. Following their retirement, they sold their home in Haverhill and purchased a recreational vehicle. They toured the United States, visiting forty-nine of the fifty states. Several years ago, Karen and Bob relocated to Palm Harbor to escape the New England winters and established their home in Sherwood Forest Park.
Always young at heart, Karen enjoyed life, and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was adored by her family and numerous friends. An avid reader, she also enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and the wonderful times that she spent with family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting and was a member of a group that makes quilts and masks for active-duty soldiers and veterans.
She was predeceased in 2020 by her loving husband of fifty-seven years Robert, and her brother, Roger Sturk. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a daughter and son-in-law, Alyson Brown and Ken Damon, Jr., of Chelmsford, MA, a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Brown and Kim Brown of Taunton, MA, and a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Todd Burbine of Dunedin, Florida; five grandchildren, Amanda Brown, Ryan Brown, Kenneth Damon, Parker Burbine and Peyton Burbine; a sister-in-law, Loretta Sturk of Carey, NC, and three brothers-in-law and their spouses: Richard and Jeanne Brown of Bradford MA, Joseph and Cathy Brown of Longs SC and Donald and Jacqueline Brown of Hampstead NH, and several nieces and nephews.
