K. Audrey
Campana
September 18, 1929 – August 18, 2019
Haverhill: K. Audrey (Ronan) Campana, 89, a resident of Haverhill, for most of her life, died August 18, 2019 at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, one month shy of her ninetieth birthday.
Born in Amesbury, daughter of the late Francis J. and Alice (Barslow) Ronan, she was raised and educated in Haverhill, graduating from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1947, and later attending Burdett College in Boston.
As a young woman, Mrs. Campana was employed in the Treasurer's Office of the City of Haverhill, and later worked for her sister-in-law's catering company. For twenty years, she was employed by the City of Haverhill School Department at the Haverhill High School and finally worked for twenty more years in several departments for the U.S. Air Force at Hanscom Air Force Base in Lexington. Following her retirement, Mrs. Campana worked in the bakery at the Ingaldsby Farm in West Boxford.
She was a member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and Cedardale Health and Athletic Club of Ward Hill, where she enjoyed her daily Yoga classes. She was a devoted grandmother to Katie and Alana, whom she acknowledged were the "center of her universe". She also cultivated a large group of dear friends that she enjoyed shopping and dining with regularly. One group, well-known as the Bag Ladies recognized her as the ringleader and instigator of the many hours of fun that they spent together. She had a terrific sense of humor and made lasting friends wherever she went. At the age of fifty, Mrs. Campana took up running and participated in several road races in the area. A reluctant flyer, she endured many flights with her late husband Norman, who was a licensed pilot, and learned to enjoy the excursions to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket for a day of sun on the beach and lunch or for more extended stays. She enjoyed traveling to Bermuda and also volunteering as a chaperone for her daughters' class trips to Europe. She especially enjoyed her daily 3 p.m. "Attitude Adjustment"!
In 2018 she was predeceased by her beloved husband Norman J. Campana, after sixty-seven years of marriage and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Mary K. Campana of Newburyport and Lisa M. Campana of Haverhill, a grand-daughter, Alana Murphy of Newburyport, a sister Arlene Rother of Groveland and a sister and brother-in-law Carole and Joe Charbonneau of North Carolina, and several nieces, nephews, and a countless number of dear friends. She was also predeceased by her grand-daughter Katie Murphy in 2013.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Campana's Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 4 until 6 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning at 10 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in All Saints Church, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery.
