Sandown, NH: Justin E. J. Leighton, 44 of Seabrook and formerly of Sandown, died February 14, 2023 in Seabrook.
Born in Dorchester, MA, son of Steven S. Leighton and Dawn (Hubert) Leighton, he was raised and educated in Sandown and was an outstanding pitcher for Sandown youth baseball town and travel teams. Justin attended Timberlane Regional Middle School and Timberlane Regional High School, graduating with the Class of 1997, was a member of the basketball team, and played Bass in the school orchestra. He also participated in several All State Music Festivals from the time of middle school thru high school. He attended Northern Essex Community College and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 2000 until 2002.
A "Jack of All Trades", Justin was employed by local contractors and tradesmen. An avid fan of all Boston sports teams, he enjoyed hiking and had completed a section of the Appalachian Trail this past spring. Justin played guitar and enjoyed an eclectic taste in music. Devoted to his family, Justin was noted for his big heart and the enormous bear hugs that he freely shared with family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time with the many family dogs that were referred to as his "Wolfpack" and will be greatly missed by his canine best friend Toby.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his parents, Steven S. Leighton and Dawn (Hubert) Leighton, both of Seabrook, two daughters, Kendall and Skyler; five brothers, Christopher Leighton and his wife Kelly of Kingston, Barak Leighton of Atkinson, Kenneth Leighton and his wife Kathleen, of Gardner, MA, Taylor Leighton of Danville and Travis Leighton and his wife Jackie of Wisconsin; three sisters, Ashley Leighton and her companion Jake Schlichte of Auburn, NH, and Chelsea Balazi and her husband Frank and Sarah Leighton, both of River Falls, WI; maternal grandmother, Anna Hubert of Seabrook, paternal grandmother, Bettina Merlo of North Carolina and several aunts uncles, cousins, and very loved nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours to be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 4:30 to 6:30p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street., Plaistow, NH. A reception will follow at the Plaistow Fish and Game Club, May Ray Avenue, Plaistow.
