Judi Crowley died on February 28, 2018 at age 72, two weeks after heart surgery.  She lived her life fully, lovingly, and with tremendous energy – dedicated to the happiness and well-being of her family and friends, and to the success of the library she loved.

Born in Detroit, Judi grew up in Dearborn, MI.  She came to Hampstead, New Hampshire by way of East Lansing, MI (where she attended Michigan State University); Philadelphia, PA; and the suburbs of Chicago.

Judi dedicated her professional life to libraries, beginning as a college student.  While working as the Children's Librarian at the Woodridge Public Library in Woodridge, IL, she obtained her Master of Library Science at Rosary College (now Dominican University).

After moving to Hampstead, NH in 1984, Judi committed the next 33 years of her life to the growth, relocation, and success of the Hampstead Public Library.  She volunteered, joined the staff, became the Assistant Director, and ultimately served as Director.  After retiring in 2006, she served on the Board of Trustees and was an active volunteer in the Friends of the Library organization, also leading the Elaine David Thrift Shop.  Promoting life-long learning and helping people find the answers they needed was a source of joy for her.

Judi was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; a committed friend; and a source of strength and support to many.   She loved reading, storytelling, and genealogy.  She loved the outdoors, and spent many hours gardening, walking, swimming, and taking her beloved granddaughter on adventures.

Judi joins her parents, Elden and Phyllis Cross.  She is missed sorely by her husband Fred (married 51 years), her daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Neil, her son and daughter-in-law Glenn and Christie, her grand-daughters Melody and Abigail, her sister and brother-in-law Janet and Darwin, her nephews Chris and Eric, and many wonderful friends.

A Celebration of Judi's Life will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the Hampstead Public Library, 9 Mary E. Clark Drive, Hampstead, NH.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Friends of the Hampstead Public Library.
