Obituary

Newton, NH: Joyce M. (Pollard) Clark, 75, a resident of Newton for fifty-one years, died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Cedar View Rehabilitation Center in Methuen, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Methuen, daughter of the late Allan and Dorothea (LaGrange) Pollard, she spent her early childhood in South Lawrence, MA before moving to Derry, NH and graduated from Pinkerton Academy with the Class of 1964. She went on to attend the Fazio School of Hairdressing.

Joyce was employed first as a waitress at the Skyport Diner in Methuen, where she met the love of her life and married in 1967.  She later worked as a clerk at the IRS. She left the work force to raise her four children before returning to employment first in the Sanborn Regional School District. Later, from 1987 until 2009 she worked as an administrative assistant to the Director of Special Education at the Hampstead Central School until her retirement.

She was a member of the National Education Association, the Newton Firemen's Auxiliary, the Quilting Club, and the Rolling Wheels CB Club of Salem, NH with the handle of "Broom Pilot".

Joyce enjoyed various activities including: crafting, camping on Prince Edward Island, taking cruises, playing the slots at Foxwoods, and in Las Vegas, spending time at her second home in Ft. Pierce, Florida, and at the beach working on her tan. Most importantly, Joyce was a devoted wife, Mom, Nana and great-grandmother and enjoyed making a warm and inviting home for her family and their friends who all called her "Mom".

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of fifty-four years, William T. Clark, three daughters, Kimberly A. Hamel and her husband William of Newton, Kathryn E. Clark of Hamilton, MA, and Kara Jean Gordon and her husband Dale of Newton, a son Jonathan R. Clark and his wife Courtney of Hampstead, a brother, Allan Pollard,Jr. of North Stratford, NH, eight grandchildren, Devin Sobleski, Ashlie and Matthew Hamel, Emma and Ella Gordon, William Clark, Genevieve and Spencer Clark, two great-grandchildren, Braydon and Jaxon Lopez, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, December 9, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. A brief prayer service and time of remembrance will conclude the calling hours. A private family graveside service will be held in Highland Cemetery, Newton. The family requests that those making donations consider the American Cancer Society.
