Obituary

Newton, NH: Joseph F. Stokes, Jr. left us on April 4th, 2018. He was the loving husband of Patricia Stokes. They shared 48 wonderful years together, residing in New Hampshire.

Born in Medford, MA, he is the son of the late Joseph F. Stokes, Sr and Elizabeth L. Stokes. He attended Medford High School and later studied at Northeastern University, and served in The United States Navy.


Joseph was passionate about all things history and enjoyed participating in reenactments with the 1st NH Regiment for over 30 years. He was a proud member of the fraternal organization of the Knights of Columbus. He also enjoyed building models, reading and spending quality time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, coaching, storytelling and the compassion he showed others. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Stokes, his children Bethanie & Ryan Pastorek and Ryan & Molly Stokes and his grandchildren Aurelia, Declan and Mia Pastorek. His in-laws Mary Jackson, Gloria Daniels, William & JoAnn Simes, Tom & Dorette Simes, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joseph's Life Celebration to be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, from 5 to 8 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home.  His funeral will begin on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at 8:45 AM from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Holy Angels Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Plaistow, NH.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
