Newton, NH: Joseph B. Pottie, Jr., 87, a native and longtime resident of Newton, went home to his heavenly father on February 15, 2026, at Penacook Place in Haverhill, MA.

Joe was the son of the late Joseph B. and Helen G (Tehan) Pottie and was raised and educated in Newton public schools. He was a member of the Haverhill Trade School Class of 1958 and was employed for many years as an auto mechanic at Park-Hegarty Volkswagen in Methuen, MA. He later worked at Lucent Technologies in North Andover, MA until his retirement.

Joe was a member of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish at Mary Mother of the Church in Newton, and enjoyed camping, square dancing, snowmobiling and socializing with his friends. A devoted husband, supportive father and cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, Joe could always be seen at his boys’ athletic games cheering them on from the sidelines.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his loving wife of sixty years, Patricia L. (Parris) Pottie, three sons, Joseph B. Pottie, III and his wife Kelly of Sandown, James C. Pottie, of Raymond, and Jeffrey P. Pottie, and his wife Heather of Fremont, eight grandchildren, Tina, Dawn, Dani, Torri, Olivia, Nathan, Patrick and Benjamin, two great-grandchildren, Braelyn and Ryer, two sisters, Joan Haynes of Plaistow and Lorraine Rago of Cape Coral, FL, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Jean Amador in May of 2013 and Claire Madden on February 9, 2026.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours to be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH, followed by a funeral service at 5:30 PM in the chapel of the funeral home.
