Lawrence, MA:  Joseph Patrick O'Meara, 57 of Lawrence, died August 21,2023, at High Point Hospice House in Haverhill, following an extended illness. The son of the late Joseph S. and Patricia (Hannon) O'Meara, Joseph was a beautiful, brilliant, sensitive, and brave man.

After graduating from Lawrence Central Catholic High School with the Class of 1984, he earned degrees in political science and history from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He joined the Navy after college and served as a Yeoman 3rd Class from 1992 until his honorable discharge in 1995 and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

Following his discharge from the service he earned a degree in Law from Seattle University School of Law. He passed the Bar in Washington State and practiced Law in Bremerton, WA for a time. He often provided pro bono legal advice to people in need. He left the world a better place because he was in it.

A voracious reader, Joseph enjoyed studying and understanding history and was a longtime fan of all New England and Boston sports teams.

He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Stephen P. and Sandra O'Meara of Plaistow, NH, two sisters and a brother in-law, Janis A. O'Meara, of San Francisco, CA and Jeanne M. and Jonathan Vural of Salem, MA; five nieces and nephews, Ryan, Victoria, Maya, Aimee and Isaac, and several cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, and High Pointe House Hospice in Haverhill, MA for their compassionate care, as well as his veteran administration representatives, Michael, Dawna and Jamie.

A private family graveside service with military honors will take place at the State of New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
