Obituary

Atkinson, NH: Joseph J. O'Connor, 74, a resident of Atkinson since 2016, died July 12, 2020, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA, following a long illness.

Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, son of the late Joseph L. and Angelina (Urro) O'Connor, he was raised and educated in Somerville and Billerica, graduating from Billerica High School in 1964. He worked as a machinist at Lytron, Inc. of Woburn for forty-seven years before retiring and served as the union steward for his shop.

A former resident of Stoneham and later Wakefield for eighteen years, he was a longtime member of the Fellowship Bible Church of Burlington and most recently attended the Rock Church in Plaistow.

Mr. O'Connor enjoyed woodworking, gardening and enjoyed classic cars, especially his 1971 Chevelle and was a member of Carrol's Car Club of Stoneham. He always looked forward to his special summer place at The Bluffs @ Danforth Bay in Freedom, NH, and also enjoyed traveling, especially his trip to Alaska to commemorate his fortieth wedding anniversary celebration.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-four years, Patricia A. (Kezarjian) O'Connor, a son, James J. O'Connor and his wife, Danielle of Manchester, NH, three daughters, Tracey A. Van Magness and her husband, Brad of Reading, MA, Bonnie M. O'Connor of Nashua, NH, and Sarah J. Whitney and her husband, Stephen of Morgan Hill, CA, three sisters, Mary Meehan of Hudson, NH, Lynda Uva of Florida, and Tricia Bakke of Nashua, NH, seven grandchildren, Carrie, Savannah, Katrina, Andrew, Joey, Becca, and Emellen, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Erin Patricia O'Connor who died in 1977.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, July 19, 2020 from 4 to 7 P.M. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St. Plaistow, NH, following the guidelines of the State of New Hampshire for social distancing and the wearing of face masks in the funeral home. His funeral service will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. outside on the grounds of the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Amyloidosis Foundation, 7151 North Main St., Suite # 2, Clarkston, MI.
