Kingston, NH: Joseph C. Fontaine, 86, of Kingston and former resident of Haverhill, MA and Newton, NH for twenty-six years, died on February 16, 2014 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA.
Born, raised, and educated in Haverhill, son of the late Arthur and Pauline (Saulnier) Fontaine, he attended St. Joseph's Grammar School and the Haverhill Trade School.
Mr. Fontaine was the former owner of E and J Repair Services and had also been employed by Western Electric Company, Portsmouth Navy Yard, Haverhill Boxboard, Cloverleaf Dairy, and Wosan MacDonald's Dairy.
A member of St. James Parish, Mr. Fontaine was in charge of the Parish Bingo fundraiser for twenty-two years. An usher for twenty years, he was also a member of the St. James Holy Name Society. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and bowling at Strikers East in Raymond, NH.
He was predeceased by his wife Pauline (Gagnon) Fontaine, and is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and William Bourassa of Danville, and Donna and Kenneth Page of Raymond, a brother Norman Fontaine of New Durham, a sister, Marilyn Dodier of Hermossa Springs, FL, two granddaughters, Stacy Graham and her fiancé Willy Duquette, and Kelly Foley and her husband Timothy, two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Aidan, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, David J. Fontaine in 1980.
There are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. James Church, 185 Winter Street, Haverhill, MA.
