Atkinson, NH: Joseph P. "Duke" Duca, 85, a resident of Atkinson since 1988, died October 29, 2016 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry.

Born in Somerville, Massachusetts and raised and educated in East Boston, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ida (Sozio) Duca. A member of the 1949 graduating class of East Boston High School, he excelled in track and field events. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was appointed to the Boston Police Department in 1961. Mr. Duca served faithfully for twenty seven years until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Boston Police Patrolman's Association and he enjoyed wood working in his retirement.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-six years, Arlene (Paull) Duca, a son Jay Duca and his wife Gloria of East Boston, three daughters, Patty Curry and her husband Tom of Atkinson, Joyce Raffa and her longtime companion Tom Gay of Derry, NH, and Michele Fabello and her husband Louie of Atkinson, a brother Robert Duca of Berwick, Maine, nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A private family funeral service will be held under the Direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home of Plaistow.
