Haverhill, MA: Jon J. McGlinchey, 28, of Haverhill died on March 28, 2016.
Born in Melrose, MA, and raised and educated in Haverhill, son of James and Laureen (Day) McGlinchey, Jon graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 2005 and attended Northern Essex Community College.
Jon was employed as a chemical technician for Allcoat Tech, which was previously Raffi and Swanson Inc. in Wilmington, MA.
An avid Patriots, Red Sox, and Bruins fan, Jon played Haverhill youth hockey and was a pitcher and catcher in the Haverhill Senior League. Jon was a movie buff with a contagious laugh and easy smile. Famous for his bear hugs, Jon was an entertainer at heart and enjoyed singing karaoke.
He is survived by his parents, James and Laureen McGlinchey of Haverhill, a sister, Crystal Chambers of Haverhill, whom he affectionately nicknamed "Babe", his paternal grandmother, Ruth (Mack) McGlinchey of Tewksbury, his dog "Lucy", several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Edward McGlinchey, and his maternal grandparents, John and Yolanda (Micalizzi) Day.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jon's Life Celebration on Saturday, April 2 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will follow at 5:15 p.m. in the funeral home. Donations in Jon's memory may be made to the Massachusetts General Burn Unit or to the MSPCA, the two foundations closest to his heart.
