Atkinson, NH: John F. Skehan, 69, died of natural causes on February 3, 2014 at his home in Atkinson.
A resident of the town over twenty-five years, he was born, raised and educated in Lowell, MA, son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Daly) Skehan. He attended the former Lowell Trade School and was a member of the Varsity Basketball Team.
Mr. Skehan served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Mr. Skehan was a self employed electrical contractor and operated his business John Skehan & Daughters Electrical in Atkinson, for over twenty-five years.
Since his years in the Navy Mr. Skehan enjoyed a lifelong love of the ocean and was a member of the Hampton Beach Marina for over forty years and enjoyed boating, fishing, scuba diving, and trips to Barbados with his friends.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Jamie B. and John Weissleder of Live Oak, Florida and Heather J. Fives of Port Orange, Florida, five grandchildren, Cody, Kyle, Hunter, Kyra and Rylee, a brother James Skehan of Effingham, NH, a sister, Kathleen Wholey, of Windham,NH, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Joseph G. Skehan.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, NH.
