Hampstead, NH: John B. Sedensky, 85, of Hampstead, NH, died on December 26, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Stephen and Margaret (O'Brien) Sedensky. John attended Fairfield Preparatory School, graduating with the Class of 1953. He served in the United States Army with the 4 th Infantry as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War, and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. After his service to our country, he continued his schooling and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business at Quinnipiac University, a Master's Degree and Phd in Education at LaSalle University and a Master's Degree in Business at Princeton University. He was the owner and operator of Sedensky Financial Services, Malden, MA from 1986 – 1991 and also worked for the American Mutual Insurance Company, Wakefield, MA. Most recently, he served as the Dean of the Business Department at Newbury College, and Professor of Accounting, until his retirement.
John was a member of St. Anne's Parish, Hampstead, NH and served on the parish Finance Committee. He was a Third Degree Member of the St. Maximilian Kolbe Council of the Knights of Columbus, the Hampstead V.F.W. Post 11254, and a life member of the Plaistow Fish and Game Club.
A resident of Hampstead for the past thirty-five years, John served as a State Senator to the General Court of New Hampshire from 2008 – 2014 and was a member of the Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services Committee and the Special Committee on Public Employee Pensions Reform.
An avid outdoorsman, John enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, sailing, hunting and traveling.
The widow of Beverly J. (Perikli) Sedensky who died December 22, 2019, John will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons and daughters-in-law, John B. and Carol Sedensky of San Diego, CA and Chris R. and Genevieve Sedensky of Hampstead, NH; two daughters and son-in-law, Kathy and Michael Rozelsky of Southborough, MA and Mary Hess of Grafton, MA; a sister, Mary Koehm of Trumbull, CT; a sister-in-law, Tefta Perikli of Wilmington, MA; seventeen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Karin Nurse and a brother, Stephen Sedensky.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, January 1, 2021, from 2 to 4 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, following State of NH guidelines for wearing masks and social distancing. His funeral will begin on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at 8:45 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Anne's Church, 26 Emerson Ave., Hampstead, NH, following the same NH State guidelines for wearing masks and social distancing. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Hampstead, NH.
