Atkinson, NH: John R. Murrey, 88, a resident of Atkinson for the past forty-six years, died June 16, 2025, in Wakefield, Massachusetts.

Born, raised and educated in Beverly,MA, son of the late George H. and Dorothy A. (Burgess) Murrey, he was a former member of the Pleasant Street United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. He worked as a janitor in local chemical plants, a carpenter for Westville Homes, Bixby in Haverhill and most recently at the Cumberland Farms in Plaistow. John enjoyed singing, trips to the beach and casinos, dining out and time with his family.

Predeceased in 2023 by his devoted wife Denise (Jaworowski) Murrey, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three sons, Jonathan J. Murrey and his wife Nicole of Atkinson and Wakefield, John R. "Jack" Murrey of Kingston, NH, and George Murrey of New Hampshire, five daughters, Cindy White and husband Irv of Buford, GA, Mary-Beth Green and husband Mitch of Exeter, Patty Hutchinson and husband Lee of Epping, Robin LaComb and husband Pete of Beaufort, SC and Lorena Ann Murrey (predecessor). Three stepsons, Brent Watkins of Alaska, Scott Watkins and wife Maria of Atkinson, NH and Derek Watkins and fiancé Terri Gulezian of Raymond, NH, two sisters Jeannette Laing of Georgetown, MA and Donna Good and husband Bob of Florida, grandchildren Jennifer Moquin, Windee Hutchinson-Lightizer, Sarah Follansbee, Ryan Nation, Nick Murrey, John Murrey III, Elizabeth Le, Tyler Murrey, Jay Murrey (predecessor), Faith Luca, Travis Watkins, Greg Keener, Paige Padellaro, Blake Watkins, Chase Watkins, Zachary Watkins, Calista Watkins, Donnie Watkins, Tyler Perrone, Aubri Perrone and 12 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours to be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.
