John L. LaFave, 90, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at Merrimack Valley Nursing Home in Boscawen, NH. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen A. (Gaffney) LaFave with whom he shared fifty-eight years.

He was born in Wakefield, MA on June 15, 1935 and was the son of the late Lawrence and Margaret (Muise) LaFave. John was raised and educated in Wakefield, MA. He proudly served in the Massachusetts National Guard. John was employed as a maintenance mechanic at the Orion Company in Beverly, MA until his retirement. After his retirement, John took a position collecting tolls in Hampton, NH, well into his seventies. He was a parishioner at St. Theresa Parish in Henniker, NH. John was an avid fisherman; he loved gardening and spending family vacations at Old Orchard beach in Maine.

John is survived by his children Mark LaFave and his wife Lucy of Contoocook, NH, and Laurel Proulx and her husband Bill of Manchester, NH, his two grandchildren, Anna and William Proulx and many nieces and nephews.

He was sadly predeceased by his siblings Jim LaFave, Robert LaFave, David LaFave, Edward LaFave and Marion Muise.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 10:30 – 12pm at the Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home 116 Main St. Plaistow, NH. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:15pm. Interment in Plaistow Cemetery, Plaistow, NH.
