Obituary


Merrimac: John R. "Jack" Gorski, 80, a resident of Merrimac for the past seventeen years, and a former longtime resident of Haverhill, died December 31, 2015 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a long illness.

Born in Haverhill, son of the late John and Theresa (Crocetti) Gorski, he attended Haverhill Public Schools and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1953. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1953 until 1957 and later attended Coyne Electrical Institute in Boston.

Mr. Gorski was first employed in the local shoe industry and later as a delivery driver for Fantini's Bakery and Nissen's Bakery and then as an assistant electrician at the Haverhill Boxboards. He was employed for many years as an assembler at Gould-Shawmut of Newburyport from where he retired twenty years ago. Mr. Gorski was a former partner of The Haverhill Beef Co. when it was located on Winter St. in Haverhill.

A member of the Church of the Nativity of Holy Redeemer Parish of Merrimac, and a former member of the Garibaldi Club and the Sons of Italy, Haverhill, he enjoyed history, reading, completing crossword puzzles, and watching horseracing.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Dorine M. (Gallant) Gorski; four daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene M. Sutton of Haverhill, Robin A. Gorski-Routhier and Gerard Routhier of Andover, Margaret "Peggie" and Amos Ramos of Aurora, Ill., and Susan J. and John Amos of Irmo, S.C.; also nine grandchildren, Darcelle, Chad, Amy, Lindsay, Laura, Emily, Benjamin, Daniel and Gabriella; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves two brothers-in-law and their wives, Norman J. and Sharon Gallant, and Roger B. and Marie Gallant, and a sister-in-law, Fern J. Gallant.

The family would like to thank the medical and support staff at Beverly Hospital and Care Dimensions for the wonderful care and support provided to Mr. Gorski and his family.

Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, January 3, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m. at BERUBE-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. His funeral will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016, at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Church of the Nativity, Green St., Merrimac, MA. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill. Memorial donations may be made to The Saint Vincent de-Paul Society of the Church of the Nativity, Green St., Merrimac, MA or to The Cancer Center at Beverly Hospital, 85 Herrick St., Beverly, MA.
