Kingsland, Georgia: John J. Fitzgerald, Jr. 79, a former resident of Atkinson, NH and Haverhill, MA, died April 4, 2022 in Brunswick, Georgia.
Born and raised in Haverhill, he was the son of the late John J. and Lorraine (Jerymn) Fitzgerald. John attended Haverhill schools, Lawrence Central Catholic High School, Haverhill High School and Wentworth Institute in Boston.
John began his career employed as a draftsman at Western Electric Company. As his career progressed he became an engineer at local defense contractors and electronic manufacturing companies.
A resident of Atkinson for twenty-seven years before moving to Kingsland, he was a member of Saint James Parish of Haverhill and a former member of the Christ the King Council of the Knights of Columbus, Groveland.
John was a fan of all New England sports teams. He served as a coach of the Riverside-Bradford Little League when his sons were younger and proudly followed his sons' college baseball careers. He also enjoyed golfing and following his retirement he worked as a ranger at Granite Fields Golf Club in Kingston, NH. A longtime and former wintertime resident of Lake Worth Florida where he enjoyed golfing, he also enjoyed several trips to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon and especially to Ireland.
Fitz will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of fifty-seven years, Kathleen "Casey" (Smith) Fitzgerald, two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy P. and Cynthia Fitzgerald of Kingsland, GA, and Kevin M. and Tara Fitzgerald of Windham, NH, and five granddaughters, Kathleen Fitzgerald, Erin (Fitzgerald) Griffis and her husband, Timothy, Megan Fitzgerald, Kerrin Fitzgerald, and Kasey Fitzgerald. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Fitzgerald.
Relatives and friends are invited to John's calling hours to be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 10 am to 12 pm at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH, immediately followed by a service in the funeral home.
