Obituary


Atkinson, NH: John Douglas Elliott, 42, a lifelong resident of Atkinson, passed away on May 16, 2014 at Beth Israel Deconess Medical Center in Boston following a lengthy illness.

John was born on August 16, 1971 at Lawrence General Hospital son of Calvin and Jeanne Elliott. He overcame early health challenges and went on to attend Timberlane Regional High School, where all of his sisters went. John held various jobs and was an active participant in Special Olympics. He won numerous medals and ribbons and was proud of his accomplishments.

A member of Atkinson Congregational Church, he enjoyed concerts on the green in Plaistow, playing Buddy Ball, and basketball. John was a member of Wings of Change, a local bowling league, and a local theatre group. He also enjoyed taking cooking and exercise classes.

We will miss John's sense of humor, his passion for food and most of all the love that he bestowed on all of us.

John is survived by his mother Jeanne V. (Tuney) Elliott of Atkinson, his father Calvin Elliott of Ossipee, his five sisters, Kristine M. Bolstridge and her husband Jeff of Rochester, NH, Katherine M. Goodwin and her husband Lonnie of Plaistow, Kaye M. Schrinel and her husband Brian of Leesburg, VA, Katie M. Dees and her husband Paul of Dallas, TX, and Karla J. Elliott Whitman and her husband Andrew of Baltimore, MD, his maternal grandmother Joan (Wandless) Tuney of Plaistow, and several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.

The services are private. Memorial donations in John's name may be made to the Kimi Nichols Center, 17 East Road, Plaistow, NH 03865. A memorial celebration of John's life is planned for August 16, 2014. Arrangements are under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH.
