Obituary

John D. Flanagan, 84, of Atkinson, NH, died on Wednesday December 2, 2020, at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Born in Everett, MA, he was the son of the late John J. and Elfreda (Taylor) Flanagan, and graduated from Everett Vocational High School, Class of 1955. After high school, John proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Upon returning home, he began working as a machinist at General Electric in Lynn, MA, where he was a dedicated employee for twenty-six years until his retirement.

In John's spare time he enjoyed restoring his 1931 Ford Model A, which he loved to drive around in the New England area while attending many car shows with his family and friends. The only thing he loved more than his Model A Ford, was spending time with his loving family. John cherished being a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather. As well as a great friend to his neighbors on Big Island Pond.

John will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Betty (Brown) Flanagan of Atkinson, NH, sons, John D. Flanagan, Jr. of Tampa, FL, James Flanagan and his wife Sandy of Wakefield, MA, grandsons, John D. Flanagan, III of Tampa, FL, Matthew Flanagan and his fiancé Danielle Howington of Tewksbury, MA, granddaughter, Katherine Flanagan of Wakefield, MA, and many nephews and nieces who lovingly called him "Unkie". John was predeceased by his son Kevin Flanagan and his sister Marjorie Stanley and his brother-in-law Richard Stanley.
