Hampstead, NH: John J. Barry, 88, a resident of Hampstead for thirty years, died peacefully, on October 3, 2019, in Salem, NH.
Born, raised and educated in Lawrence, son of the late James J. and Winifred L. (Costello) Barry, he was a member of the Lawrence High School Class of 1948.
Mr. Barry served as an Electricians Mate 3rd Class in the U.S Naval Reserves from 1950 until 1958 and was later employed for thirty-five years as an Electrical Engineering Technician at the Bell Labs of Western Electric Co and Lucent Technologies of North Andover.
A member of Saint Anne's Parish of Hampstead and Village Band of Emerson Village, he was an accomplished musician, proficient at the keyboard, piano and the accordion.
A former resident of Methuen, before moving to Hampstead in 1989, Mr. Barry enjoyed working around his home, camping, motorcycle riding and candlepin bowling as a member of several leagues including the Western Electric/Lucent League.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-three years, Marie L. (Levesque) Barry, sons and daughters-in-law, Michael J. Barry of Hampstead, Thomas J. and Marjorie Barry of Merrimac, MA and Daniel M. and Shannon Barry of Thompson, CT, and a grandson Alex G. Barry of Merrimac. He was predeceased by brothers, James J. Barry and Bernard Barry.
