John J.
Antoniewicz
March 17, 1947 – November 16, 2017
Sandown, NH: John J. Antoniewicz, 70, a resident of Sandown for the past forty-two years, died November 16, 2017 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry.
John was born in Haverhill on Saint Patrick's Day, 1947, son of Bernice (Wyka) Antoniewicz and the late John J. Antoiewicz. He was educated in the local school system and graduated from the former Cardinal Cushing Academy of West Newbury where he was a member of the Varsity Football Team. He later attended Bradford College. A Vietnam War veteran, he served as a Specialist 4 in the U.S. Army from 1967 until 1969. He was honorably discharged and awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
John had a long career as an auto mechanic. He first managed the Amoco Station in Plaistow and later opened John and Son's Garage, and was known as a beloved and trusted mechanic for residents of Plaistow and surrounding communities until his retirement in the Spring of 2017.
Known as "Bo" to his many friends, John enjoyed car racing as a young man and was a co-owner of the "1/5 th " race car that he competed in at the Lee Raceway and Star Speedway and qualified to race at Loudon Speedway. He also enjoyed fishing and boating, building and flying remote controlled air planes and completing home improvement projects. Above all, John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his son John.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his son John J. Antoniewicz, and his girlfriend Jennifer Dion of Derry, his mother Bernice (Wyka) Antoniewicz, of Haverhill, two sisters, Carol Boksanski and Chrissy Mackay, his former wife Deborah (Norris) Antoniewicz, his significant other, Karen Forcier, two nephews and three nieces.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday evening, November 21, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main ST., Plaistow. His funeral service will follow at 7:30 in the funeral home. A private family burial service will take place in The New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
