Torpey
November 16, 1925 – April 3, 2025
Haverhill, MA: Joanne M. (Caron) Torpey, 99 of Haverhill, died peacefully on April 3, 2025, at Haverhill Crossings, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Tilbury, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Rodolphe and Catherine (O'Connor) Caron. Her family moved to Quebec where she attended local schools and rounded out her education by attending secretarial school.
Eventually moving with her husband to Lexington, MA, where she raised her daughter and four sons, Joanne was employed as an Administrative Assistant for Torpey Engineering and in the same capacity at Lexington Town Hall. She was a member of St. Brigid's Parish, the Lexington Couples Club, and the Lexington Tennis Club, where she competed in several leagues. Always proud of her French-Canadian heritage, Joanne was a dedicated fan of the Boston Bruins while still holding a special affection for the Montreal Canadiens. She was an accomplished self-taught pianist and enjoyed traveling with her late husband, Henry.
After selling the family home in Lexington, Henry and Joanne moved to Peabody and settled into Brooksby Village for eleven years before she moved to Haverhill seven years ago.
Predeceased in 2011 by her loving and devoted husband, Henry R. Torpey, Joanne will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Andrea L. and William R. Lohnes of Plaistow, and four sons, H. Robert Torpey and his wife Jeanne of Concord, NH, William L. Torpey and his wife Nancy of Nashua, NH, Richard K. Torpey of Naples, FL, and Mark S. Torpey and his wife Emily, of San Diego, CA; a sister-in-law Patricia Santapaola; eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
