Obituary

Haverhill, MA; Joanne M. Manship 81, former longtime resident of Atkinson, died Monday, November 14, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born and raised in East Boston and Medford, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Voto) Cioffi.  Following graduation from Medford High School, she began working at Edwards Furniture, where she met her beloved husband James.  James and Joanne wed shortly thereafter and moved to Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington, eventually moving back east and settling in Atkinson, NH.  The majority of Joanne's career was as an executive assistant at the Law Offices of Sheehan, Schiavoni, Jutras and Magliocchetti in Haverhill, Massachusetts until her retirement.  She also worked with the United Way of the Merrimack Valley for many years.

Joanne was devoted to her family. She was a truly selfless woman, always caring for those around her whether at home or at work. She was an incredible cook.  When "grammy" came to visit, everyone knew she'd come with whoopie pies, wowie cake or banana bread.  She enjoyed nothing more than making people happy. In her free time, she took trips with family to Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire and Jekyll Island in Georgia.

Joanne is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her three sons, Steven Manship and his wife, Erin of Windham, NH, Michael Manship and his significant other, Karen of Wakefield, MA, and Gregory Manship and his wife, Kristie of Bow, NH; six grandchildren, Shea, Ceara, Joseph, Jeanette, Derrick and Dylan; two great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph Cioffi and his wife, Joyce of Sunapee, NH; two sisters, Marie Cioffi of Middleton, MA and Karen Neve of Newbury, MA. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband James N. Manship.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Saturday, November 19, 2022, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will follow at 3:15 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date, alongside her husband at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
