Plaistow: Joan F. (Simard) Libby, 76, a resident of Plaistow for the last forty-six years, died Monday, September 5, 2016 at Lawrence General Hospital, after being stricken at her home.
Born in Salem, MA, daughter of the late Alfred and Helen (Gness) Simard, she was raised and educated in Charlestown and was a member of the Charlestown High School Class of 1958. Mrs. Libby retired from Capital Distributors as an administrative assistant in 2000 after ten years of service and was previously employed at Hadco Corporation and Tel-Mark.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Libby enjoyed baking, family gatherings, jig-saw puzzles and gardening.
Predeceased by her husband Ralph O. Libby in 2007, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her three daughters and son-in-law, Donna M. Larney, of Raymond, NH, Kathleen M. Libby of Plaistow, and Christine M. and Michael Cruz of Rollinsford, a son and daughter-in-law, Paul R. and Rhonda Libby of Wakefield, NH, a bother and sister-in-law, Peter and Patti Simard of Easton, MA, a sister Connie Ryan of Haverhill, six grandchildren, Meaghan Larney of Salem, Sean Larney of Boston, U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer 3rd CL Ryan Larney of San Diego, CA, Lathan Libby of Florida, Michael Cruz and Lauryn Cruz of Rollinsford and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Libby's Life Celebration to be held on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with burial to follow in Plaistow Cemetery.
