Joan graduated from Pawtucket West Senior High School, Class of 1951, and Bryant College for business/secretarial studies in 1952. Her keen organizational skills served her well throughout her life.

They lived in Harrisville, RI and Cumberland, RI, and in later years moved to Salem, NH to be closer to their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joan had many jobs besides being the best mother ever. She worked for the Rhode Island Philharmonic as a young wife, then was employed as a teacher's aide in the Norton, MA public school system. Later, being the avid reader she was, she also worked for the Norton and Woonsocket Public Libraries.
Joan was always known for being friendly and warm, and would converse happily with strangers and friends alike. She made friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed traveling around the country for naval reunions. She was able to make several trips to Europe and especially enjoyed spending part of each winter in Lady Lakes Florida seeing family and friends. Joan cherished time spent with her family. She was a member of the Navy Wives Club for many years during the time of her husband's service. Joan was a long-time parishioner of Saints Mary and Joseph Parish in Salem, NH.
Joan will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Karen Bramhall and her husband Thomas of Haverhill, MA, and Maryann Lanzikos and her husband James of Pittsfield, ME, two sons, Michael J. Mason and his wife Laura of Cincinnati, OH and Timothy D.
