Atkinson, NH: Joan A. (Calderone) Foster, 83, a resident of Sunset Drive in Atkinson from 1962 until 2018, died Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover.
Born and raised in Lawrence, MA, daughter of the late Anthony and Lena (LaSpina) Calderone, she was a graduate of Lawrence High School with the Class of 1953. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree from Merrimack College in 1957, Mrs. Foster was employed by the City of Haverhill School Department as a middle school teacher at Fox School, Saint James Elementary School and Albert Consentino Middle School, retiring in 1984.
Mrs. Foster was a devoted and active member of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish at Holy Angels Church in Plaistow, where she volunteered as a C.C.D. teacher. She was also a member of the Atkinson Garden Club. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, vacationing on Hilton Head, SC and Sanibel Island, Florida, and traveling across the United States and Europe, and especially enjoyed her time spent in Italy.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Howard E. Foster in 2015, after fifty-seven years of marriage, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Denise J. Foster of South Berwick, ME, and Maura A. Annis of York, ME, a son and daughter-in-law, Mark H. and Brenda Foster of Rolllinsford, NH, a sister, Antonette "Toni" Gazzaniga of New York, four grandchildren, Mary E. (Foster) Curtis and her husband Leland of Somersworth, Katherine A. Foster of Salisbury, MD, Christopher M. Foster of Rollinsford and Margaret M. Annis of Sanford, ME, also one aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday morning, August 17, 2019 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, 8 Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow, followed by burial in Atkinson Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, 8 Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow, NH 03865 or to National Shrine of the Divine Mercy, c/o Fr.
