Prior to moving to the United States, she received her Bachelor's degree from the Guangxi University for the Nationalities in 1986. She started "The Warming Wall" a community based sharing program where those no longer in need of a gently worn piece of clothing could leave it for those that may be in need.
In the United States she spent her time lakeside at her home in Sandown. She enjoyed tending her garden, swimming, kayaking, fishing in the lake with her husband's family, and walking the neighborhood foraging for wild fruits to eat. Her latest love is a 4 month old Papillion named Xiaochi. (Pronounced shOWchUR) Xiaochi was her first pet and she loved him dearly. She loved to write and more than anything she loved her husband. She loved to cook for him, always having a dinner ready, always listening for his footsteps on the walk.
