Born in Haverhill, daughter of the late John and Mary (Rurak) Byra, she attended Tilton School, Haverhill and Haverhill High School. She worked as a bench hand in the local shoe industry and for twenty years for the former A T & T Company, until her retirement in 1979.

She is a member of All Saints Church, Haverhill and the former St. Michael's Church, Haverhill and is also a former member of the Communication Workers of America (C.W.A.). Mrs. Oleskie enjoyed crocheting, shopping and going for walks.

The widow of the late Bennie Oleskie, who died in 1996, she is survived by a granddaughter, Robin M. Flanagan and her husband, David of Northwood, NH; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Flanagan and Kellyn Flanagan; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Beverl A. Hasty, who died in 2000 and a son-in-law, Robert Hasty, who died in 2008.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, from 5 to 8 PM at BERUBE-COMEAU Funeral Home, 47 Broadway (Route 97), Haverhill, MA. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at 10 AM in the funeral home. Private burial will take place in St. Patrick Cemetery, Haverhill.
