Obituary

Downington, PA: Jeannette T. (LeBlanc) Cormier, 95, of Downington and a former longtime resident of Haverhill, Massachusetts, died Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Saint Martha's Retirement Center, in Downington, where she has lived for the past two years.

Born in Sainte Anselm, New Brunswick, Canada, daughter of the late Dedase and Amanda (LeBlanc) LeBlanc, she was educated in New Brunswick and attended a local Business College after High School. Mrs. Cormier emigrated to the United States at the age of twenty, residing first in Leominster and Worcester, MA before settling in Haverhill, where she lived for fifty-five years.

Mrs. Cormier was employed as the Office Manager at EastPak in Haverhill for thirty-five years before retiring. She lived in Clearwater, Florida, not far from her daughter, for ten years before returning to New England and settling in Downington two years ago, to be closer to her son, grand-daughter and great-grandson. A longtime member of All Saints Parish and the former Saint Joseph Parish, she was active as a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne and as a Eucharistic Minister of Communion. She was a faith-filled woman who listened daily to ETWN for the Mass and Rosary.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Mrs. Cormier was known as a woman with a big heart who enjoyed reaching out to those in need, and to comfort the sick. She always looked forward to her yearly trips back to New Brunswick to visit her large extended family of siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins. One of her favorite hobbies was shopping and was known as a stylish dresser. She spent many happy Saturdays at Hampton Beach with family and friends. She always saved time for baking to keep her family well fed and was especially known for her famous banana bread that she shared with family and friends.

Predeceased in 2015 by her devoted husband of seventy-four years, Norman J. Cormier, and by her son Ronald Cormier in 2021, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a son and daughter-in-law, William and Robin Cormier of Chester Springs, PA, a daughter Lisa (Cormier) O'Brien of Tampa, FL, a daughter-in-law Dianne Cormier of Dunedin, FL; eight grandchildren, Darrell Cormier, Todd Cormier, Laura Hanson, Bridgette Cormier, Colleen Cormier, Christine Martuscello, Brandon O'Brien and Connor O'Brien; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 9 at 9 am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be made to: All Saint Parish, 120 Bellevue Ave. Haverhill.
