Haverhill: Jeanette C. "Sunny" (O'Keefe) Olsen, 82, of Haverhill, died on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Aspen Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Born in Winchester and raised in Stoneham, she was the daughter of the late George and Jeanette (Crafts) O'Keefe. Sunny graduated from Stoneham High School in 1960 and later from the Lynn Hospital School of Nursing in 1962.
Sunny was employed as an ICU nurse for many years at the former Hale Hospital in Haverhill until it was sold in 2001 and opted to retire at that time. While there, she served as chairperson for the local chapter of the Massachusetts Nurses' Association for a number of years.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was an avid reader and Red Sox fan who also enjoyed birdwatching, spending summers lakeside while at camp in Aurora, Maine and various vacations over the years with friends and family.
Sunny was predeceased in 2001 by her husband of thirty-nine years, Robert Olsen, and her daughter, Lee (Olsen) Lesiczka in 2010, and is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three daughters, Debra Jenkins and her husband, Bryant, of West Newbury, Teresa Bolduc and her husband, Ronald of Plaistow, and Karen Silvia of Bradford, a son Michael Olsen and his wife Katie of Fitchburg, a son-in-law Stephen Lesiczka of Haverhill, a sister, Ellen Gallella of Tewksbury, eight grandchildren, Stephen, Colleen, Allison, Anna, Thomas, Madison, Megan and Samuel, a great- granddaughter, Marlowe, and several nieces, nephews and cousins and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and was eagerly awaiting the birth of her first great-grandson in January. She was also predeceased by a brother James and brother-in-law Joseph Gallella.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours to be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning at 10a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home and followed by burial in Walnut Cemetery, Haverhill.
