Atkinson, NH: Jean H. Pierce, age 94 of Atkinson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.

She was born on July 20, 1920 in Boston, MA the daughter of the late, Louise (Hayes) Hale. She was raised and educated in Bangor, ME. Jean graduated from Lasell Prep School and Junior College in Newton, MA. She earned an Associate's Degree.

As a young woman, Jean had worked at the Boston Herald Traveler as an editor in the women's department. After getting married, she stayed home to raise her three boys.

Jean enjoyed tending to her garden and she was known for making her home made jelly from grapes that grew on the vines at her home. She cherished spending summers at her family cottages in Waldoboro, ME.

Jean is survived by her sons; Andrew J. Pierce and his wife, Deborah of Atkinson, NH, John H. Pierce and his wife, Susan of Hampstead, NH and Peter G. Pierce and his wife, Marsha of Beverly, MA. Jean was predeceased by her husband, John A. Pierce in 1999. She is also survived by three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Family and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Pierce's Life Celebration on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 4 - 8 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street (Rt. 121A), Plaistow, NH 03865. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden, MA.
